Braxton's not so cute Hair Cut

So Braxton comes into me the other night asking if he can have some paper to cut up (with kids scissors of course). Now this is pretty common that he does this, he likes to cut little pieces of paper up and then throw them in the air and pretend that its snowing. SO I got him his "kids" scissors, you know the ones that aren't very sharp with rounded edges and let him start cutting away. Well I went into the other room for just a second to change Emree and when I walked back in he had this look on his face and had his hands over his hair, and I asked "what did you do?" He looked up at me with those "I know I'm in trouble eyes" and said I cut my hair. I have no idea how he did it so fast and managed to cut so close to his scalp. When I saw his hair I wanted to get really upset, but I stayed calm knowing that at some point every mom has to deal with their kids trying to cut their own hair (for me it was my bangs when I was little). I sat him down and told him how dangerous it is to cut his own hair and that we DO NOT cut anything but paper that I give him. I explained to him that we were going to have to shave his head (which he thought was cool of course) he said he would look like "army guys" now. SO the next day I buzzed his hair down to a one and you could still see where he had cut it. Oh well I guess its a good thing he's a boy and not a girl. Alright so you would think that after all this had happened with having to buzz his hair and having a nice long chat about not cutting anything but paper he would have learned his lesson...but noooo....I walk into his room later that day and found him cutting his sheets on his bed and the fabric that covers his box spring mattress. NOW this time I didn't stay all that I calm. I was mad. What the heck is going on with him, all of a sudden he's cutting everything in the house and we have never had any problems in the past. I took the scissors from him and hid them and told him he can no longer play with the scissors and that he should know better oh and he had to sit in his room on time out. I then went and hid all the scissors in the house. Well Sunday comes along and we get home from church and I told him it was time for "quiet time" and he could watch a movie or play quietly. I go in my room to change and to put Emree to sleep and when I walk back out, what has my wonderful son done this time??? He found scissors some how and managed to cut his hair AGAIN now he has bald spots on his buzzed head. OH BRAXTON!! I asked him "why do you keep doing this? and he said "cuz it just feels cool" oh and I asked him where he got the scissors from and he said "mom you forgot to hide the ones you keep in your bathroom". I totally didn't even remember we had any in there. So now his hair looks pretty jacked up but hey at least we don't have a wedding to be in or kindergarten starting in just a couple of weeks. Oh wait, yes we do.

Oh no! You would think that having practically no hair would deter him! Oh well, hopefully it's just a phase right??

Just tell him that his hair will start falling out if he keeps cutting it and he'll look like a cancer patient rather than an Army Guy! Ha ha! But really, he still looks SOOOOOO cute. Oh and I can't believe he's starting kindergarten! That makes me so sad and I don't even know why!

Scott and Mandi

I love it! It's always funnier when it's someone else's kid though! He is still a very handsome little guy!

The Fast Family

I can't believe he got that close to his scalp with kid scissors. That's crazy. He still looks super cute though.

Oh no, I thought once you cut his hair it was fine till I kept reading, Oh no!!! I think once kids get it in their head to do something it's hard to stop. So funny when he said because t feels good, HAHA. Anyway hang in there and yes lucky he is a boy.

THE TOKI TRIBE

That is too funny! His hair was always super cute too!! Of course it happened right before pics have to be taken, isn't that always what happens!! I walked in on Isaac cutting my friend Liz's daughters hair, like chopping it off!! I was dying! She just stood their in the mirror and let him like she was at the barber shop! But the whole cutting sheets thing, I would die!!

Your blog is so cute!! I found yours through Mandi's. I just had to leave you a comment because I know exactly how you feel. Hannah just did the same thing. (You can see it on our blog too) I had the same thought as you. I couldn't believe she did it right before school starts. It must be a 5 year old thing. At least we don't have a wedding coming up.

Your family is so cute. Congrads on the new baby. She is darling.

My daughter just did the same thing that your son did except she cut her bangs and the back of her hair. Fun huh? Its a memory that we will always remember. :)
